Columbia Theatre Association for the Performing Arts
To enrich the cultural lives of the people of the Lower Columbia region through the enjoyment of the performing arts, arts education, and related activities.
The Columbia Theatre’s goal for Give More 24! Is $4,000! Your gift will be matched! Thanks to a generous matching fund gifted by the Columbia Theatre Guild, your gift will be matched – dollar for dollar up to $2,000! What does my gift do? The Columbia Theatre BELIEVES in the impact on a community’s youth through Arts Education. There has been plenty of studies, but by the Columbia being committed to providing unique arts education opportunities, we have been able to experience it firsthand. And because we know our community believes in this also, we are seeking support for our 2018 Arts Education initiatives. Specifically, this will include: • Scholarships for our Winter Theatre Acting Workshops for students 6-13. • Providing low cost and admission-free attendance for any Cowlitz County student that wants to participate in January’s Community Read Project—The Pianist of Willesden Lane. The Children of Willesden Lane: In partnership with Facing History and Ourselves, USC Shoah Foundation, and the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, Hold on To Your Music has launched an expansive educational campaign designed around the message of The Children of Willesden Lane. This campaign includes an organized city or all-school read of the book, The Children of Willesden Lane; preparatory training sessions for teachers; art, music and essay classroom activity programs; and a concert performance of Willesden Lane with Author/Performer Mona Golabek. The performance portion of this project will take place from January 23rd through January 25th and will include school performances, an evening public performance, and “Meet & Greet” with Ms. Golabek.
