iUrban Teen is a nationally recognized program focused on bringing STEM+C+A education to youth of color ages 13 to 18. Youth receive hands-on exposure to a variety of careers that step them outside their current boundaries..Our target demographics are African American, Latino and Native American youth, however, the program is inclusive of all youth who fall within the Non-Traditional STEM Learners category. We consider ourselves a career accelerator. But we need your help.
Show that you care as much as we do about education. We need capacity building funds. iUrban Teen has been a volunteer run organization since its founding in 2011. It partners with universities, businesses and community organizations to provide workshops and training's’ for youth that are tracked in STEM related careers in Healthcare. Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Energy, Cybersecurity and Digital Arts. The organization depends on the commitment of parent volunteers, interns and professionals to provide the services and organize the dozens of events around the region serving over 5,200 youth. iUrban Teen is currently in a phase of what the National Council of Nonprofits terms “cycle of starvation.” We are regularly scrambling to raise money and resources to cover our immediate costs, leaving very little time or dollars to invest in infrastructure. Our computers are outdated, we don't have our own space, and we need an analysis of programs and an overall strategic planning process to make sure our programming which provides inspiration for teens to pursue STEM careers is actually moving them further toward a career in software, technology, engineering or the arts.
