Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Oregon and SW Washington
We support local women (and their families) who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. We offer one-to-one peer mentoring in which a trained ovarian cancer survivor is matched with any woman newly diagnosed or facing a recurrence. We teach the symptoms of ovarian cancer to all future medical providers (students) in our area. We host an annual Medical Update conference, a Survivor Luncheon and a social fundraising event called "O-Vary Funny, A Standup Benefit for Ovarian Cancer." We give out chemo care kits to women newly diagnosed or facing a recurrence, and have a new financial assistance program fund for women who need financial help during their treatment. We provide information about ovarian cancer, including diagnosis and treatment, on our website and through our social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We are also providing general information about ovarian cancer through a new awareness campaign called "Trust Your Gut."
Our goals are to raise funds to further amplify the message of the Trust Your Gut Ovarian Cancer Awareness Campaign; and to add to the new "Here 4 You" financial assistance program fund which helps women who are in current treatment, and who have demonstrated financial need for help with bills like rent, transportation and medical costs.
