The Arc of SW Washington
The Arc of SW Washington has been here in the Vancouver area since 1936 providing support, programs, services, and activities to all individuals with developmental disabilities. We believe in the inclusion and promotion of cultural connection and unlimited community participation for all persons regardless of disability status. We offer community access, inclusion and one on one supports through our Community Connections program. This program provides opportunities for social, volunteer, and educational engagement. We provide playgroup resources and supports of all kinds for parents and children affected by Autism spectrum disorder. We offer supported living programs for people to live in as “least restrictive” environments possible, and as independently as possible. This is a short list, and just a few of the things we do. “We are sensitive to the struggle that families and persons experiencing disabilities face." The Arc of SW Washington are the collaborators that bring groups together. We meet the needs of this population in a way that no other entity, public or private does by providing social supports, and opportunities for personal empowerment and we believe in building relationships that are more receptive and responsive to those that experience disability. The Arc of SW WA continues to be the recognized resource for the community. Every team member at The Arc of SW Washington believe that our work matters in this world, and in this population with our whole heart.
The persons we serve here at The Arc of SW Washington continue to experience the same sense of belonging and inclusion that all human beings desire. Through our programs, and services, we are uniquely equipped to meet these needs. Within The Arc’s service area alone, we have identified approx. 23,466 persons who experience a cognitive disability. Our goal for this campaign, is to provide much needed services and programs for this growing population as well as develop new ones to serve those who need it most. For example, the need for programs and supports for families impacted by Autism continues to grow. The Arc of SW WA is a trusted resource for families struggling with this diagnosis. As we continue to adjust to the increasing demand, we are in great need of your generous donations.
